I have been working on The Wild Wisdom Project for years. Now the team is in place, and the publisher, editor and audiobook producer have been selected. There is work underway and more to do.
I want these stories to be here for the people who come after us. To read. To hear in my voice. To share with someone whose life has been different from their own.

Our Fundraising Goal
I am raising $43,000 to cover the production and launch of The Wild Wisdom Project. This campaign helps cover the production and launch costs of The Wild Wisdom Project. It is a beginning, not the full cost of everything I hope the project will become.
The work includes:

The book: Editing, preparing photographs, and publishing the stories.

The audiobook: Recording and producing the stories in my own voice.

The YouTube channel and website: Producing videos and giving the stories a place online.

Distribution and initial promotion: Helping people find the book, audiobook and videos.

Fiscal sponsorship and administration: AIR's work in receiving and overseeing the funds.
My time and personal expenses are not part of this fundraising request. Those costs will be covered separately. As the book and audiobook become available, I hope their sales will help pay for the work that follows.

Make Possible
Wild Wisdom brings together 25 vignettes inspired by my two one-woman shows, Wild Wisdom and When Strangers Meet. They are short stories written as performance pieces, to be read, heard, seen, spoken aloud, and allowed to linger.
They explore eight decades of changing expectations about how American women should look, behave and see the world. There are stories of romance, friendship, work, and the choices we make when somebody else's expectations do not fit the life we want.
Some will become pages in a book. Some will be heard in the audiobook. The YouTube channel gives us another place to share the stories and the conversations they begin.

How Your Gift Is Cared For
The Wild Wisdom Project is fiscally sponsored through StoryFund, a program of the Association of Independents in Radio (AIR), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 1988.
AIR supports independent storytellers and helps projects like this one receive charitable donations. It receives the funds, oversees their use, and provides a written acknowledgment for tax purposes.
Your donation goes through AIR in support of The Wild Wisdom Project. Givebutter is the online platform used to receive it.
Your Donation and Taxes
Donations through AIR are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. If you receive books, a meal, an event, or other benefits in return for your gift, their fair market value may reduce the amount you can deduct.
AIR provides a written acknowledgment for your records. Please keep it with your donation receipt and ask your tax adviser how the rules apply to your circumstances. The full gift amount is not automatically deductible simply because it goes through a nonprofit.
A Few Questions You May Have
Yes. AIR's online donation form lets you choose whether to be named publicly or remain anonymous. If you give by check, or want to discuss recognition on the website, in the book or in the credits, please let me know your preference. You do not need to be publicly named to support the project.
The book and audiobook are being developed. Gifts at the listed levels include them on first release. I will share updates as the work progresses.
Please write to me. My team and I will coordinate the project benefits. AIR receives and oversees donations; arrangements for books and gatherings are handled by the Wild Wisdom team.
