Welcome to the
Wild Wisdom

Wild Wisdom began with my own stories. Growing up. Falling in love. Raising a family. Making things. Making mistakes. Starting over. Learning, sometimes the hard way, to trust myself.

Some stories make us laugh. Some stay with us for years. And some change the way we see ourselves, another person, or the world around us.

That is what Wild Wisdom is about. Real lives, real experiences, and what we come to understand from living them.

The Idea Behind Wild Wisdom

For years, I have told stories on stage, in films, through festivals, and in conversations. But there are stories from my own life that I do not want to simply disappear.

Wild Wisdom grew out of two One-Woman Shows — Wild Wisdom, and When Strangers Meet.

I began looking back at the experiences that shaped me and at the changing expectations placed on women over the eight decades as I have lived through.

The Wild Wisdom Project brings those experiences together as 25 vignettes written as performance pieces — stories meant to be heard, seen and read.

Founding Patrons

Some people choose to help at the very beginning, when an idea is becoming something real.

The Founding Patrons of The Wild Wisdom Project are helping bring these stories into the world as a book, an audiobook, and a continuing video series. Their belief helps give the work a home where it can be read, heard, seen, and shared.

A gift of $5,000 makes someone a Founding Patron. Their name will be kept here, and in the life of the project, as one of the people who helped make it possible.

With gratitude to our Founding Patrons

Become a Founding Patron

If you would like to be part of this beginning, I would love to welcome you.

Founding Patrons receive the project’s donor benefits, an invitation for two to a private dinner with Vili and me, and an exclusive film screening followed by conversation. Most of all, their names are permanently honored as people who helped The Wild Wisdom Project begin.

The Stories

The stories begin with experiences from my younger years and more through the many worlds I have inhabited since then.

  • Some are about being a woman at a particular moment in American history

  • Some are about cross-cultural relationships

  • Some are about Film & Filmmakers

  • Some are about Love and Friendship

  • Some are about the complexities and joys of family life

  • Some are about the unexpected directions a life can take

  • And some are simply stories that I have carried around with me because I am not ready to let them go

I hope you will read them. I hope you will listen to them. But all this is never meant to be just my story. It became an invitation:

  • Tell me your story

  • Tell me what you learned

  • Tell me what you know now that you did not know then
